Photo Assignment: October 31st - November 13th

Hello Friends,

Our new assignment is called "After Dark". I wanted to do this assignment as a way to redeem the night.  I was singing at a (pretty conservative) church about a year ago with Micah and the Pastor was talking about the new casino that had opened up in West Michigan, encouraging his members to avoid the temptations of gambling.  At some point in his discussion, he talked about how there were thousands of people flocking to the grand opening of the casino, getting there at 10PM, at that "un-godly hour of the night".

I sat there thinking about what kinds of good things can happen in during the night--- babys are born, children are kissed, told "I love you" from their parents and put to bed, old friends are reconnecting over food and fellowship.  There are still many bad things that can happen during the night, but I would not consider it "ungodly". God has given us the gift of the entire 24 hour day-- and I want to celebrate the night and the ways that I and other can praise God during the night.

I love this picture, its from this past summer.  Micah's family spends one summer in cabins together, and one night they set off fireworks.  You can see the whole hill that the cabins are located on.  You can also see some of our family- all watching the fireworks together. It reminds me of how Micah's family always celebrates the love and family that God has given them, and we celebrate--even into the night.

As you think about the pictures you want to take "after dark", I hope it reminds you of God's -24 hour, 7 days a week- faithfulness.
Meredith

p.s. Our next assignment is called "Thankfulness", and yes, it will be over Thanksgiving!
