Assignment for October 17th- October 30th.

Hello Friends,

I want to welcome Anna Lehnert, and Kalli Koetsier to our group.  We are always open for new members, so feel free to share with your family and friends. Although we are based out of SRC, non-SRC members are welcome!

We got some great photos from our last assignment about weather. I am glad it got our photography juices flowing. This new assignment is called "Parts of the whole". I like this theme because It reminds me of that Romans 12 verse about how each of us are members of the body of Christ, and each member has a different function. The verse continues to talk about how some have a gift of service, and other teaching, and so on and so on. (Paul does not say the gift of photography, but I am sure if photography was around when Romans was written, it would have been.)

As you think about this assignment, where in life do you see parts of a whole? Is it parts of our car that makes it run? is a member of your family?

I had my camera at church with my this morning, so this is what I came up with.
1/30s 24mm f/4.0 ISO:900

I was trying to focus on part of the communion table, and on the word "DO" from the phrase "This do in remembrance of me".   I see now that I am home that because I didn't get the first "t" It now says "His do..."At least I am able to keep the focus on the word "DO".  I  love trying to take pictures that represents what happens in worship, without being too literal-- so I wanted a picture that did not involve the cup or the bread.  I like how it looks in black and white, and the emphasis on the "doing" part of communion.  I think it can also say that communion is a part of our worshiping God.

What does "parts of a whole" mean to you?  Does your photo have any meaning behind it that is important to you?

Enjoy thinking and praying and seeing where this assignment leads you. I cannot wait to see what you all come up with!  -Meredith

p.s. Our next assignment is called "After Dark".  Just in time for halloween!

  1. It really makes me want to look deeper into the picture and study it. There is always more to see. I could see "HIS DOING" also in it, with the emphasis on "HIS". Something important to always remember..... plb
