Croquet

Yesterday, Micah and spent some time with his family up in Big Rapids, and I had a lot of fun taking pictures of the croquet game, especially playing with aperture and shutter speed.

  4. It must have been on. That would be how you get the effect of the clearly outlined ball amidst the blurred orange streek.

The slow shutter speed paints the orange of the ball across the frame, but when the flash goes off, bam!, for a split second you paint the ball with a flash of light making it frozen in the middle of the streek.

  5. But there were TWO balls- an orange one hitting the yellow one. so the yellow one was still for the first 30 seconds before the orange one hit it, and then it moved slightly. because i was pretty sure i wasn't using my flash... now it makes sense why you thought so! :)
